Jazz on Radio Bracknell

When Radio Bracknell was established by John Hicks in February 2009, he had two prime objectives in mind:

After discussion with musicians and music fans across the south of England, John realised that there was the need for more jazz on the radio and greater publicity for live jazz events.
His plan for Radio Bracknell, Berkshire’s newest internet music radio station broadcasting 24/7 across the world, to feature jazz programmes was well-received and he was encouraged by the positive response of the committee of the prestigious Marlborough International Jazz Festival, local jazz practitioners and venues such as Bracknell’s South Hill Park, Ascot’s Jagz Club and Reading’s Jazz Cafe. The flagship jazz show is JAZZ NOW presented by Brian Soundy whose show grows from strength to strength each passing week. Brian’s personal standing in the jazz community, his knowledge of the genre and his understanding, coming as it does from being a performer himself, has enabled him to build a loyal following.
The foundations laid down by Jazz Now has enabled Radio Bracknell to plan for a strong niche coverage on the station over the coming years.
Radio Bracknell’s standing within the UK jazz community and a rapidly strengthening listener base throughout the world, to work with a new global jazz radio station, UK Jazz Radio dotcom, so that all Radio Bracknell jazz programmes will be simultaneously broadcast. As John Hicks explains: “This exposure on UK Jazz Radio will enable our local presenters to have a global audience. We punch well above our weight as a local station and our flagship jazz show, Jazz Now, leads the way.”
John welcomes listeners’ feedback so if you would like to contribute your thoughts and expertise on how Radio Bracknell can support jazz, or any other genre, please write to him direct at john@radiobracknell.com. He will be delighted to hear from you.
Equally, John would like to hear from you if you would like to present your own show on Radio Bracknell so that you too can share your passion for music with a wide audience. Please drop him an e-mail and he will advise you further.
